We've had the pleasure of reaching anywhere from 101ᵒ Fahrenheit to 105ᵒ Fahrenheit during the past few days (and more to come!), so I've pretty much stayed inside to avoid heat sickness. Fortunately, our air conditioner is up to the task (although we've turned the thermostat up to 79ᵒ from "normal summer setting" 78ᵒ) and, even if it weren't, the temperature would remain in the 70s in the basement. Something I enjoy doing is watching the birds bathe in our bird bath on the back porch. The small bay window in the kitchen gives me the perfect viewing platform.

That's hotter than we had on vacation at lake Garda in Italy.
OK, you are 6 degrees further south, but still...

Those babies are so cute - even looking half drowned. That last bluebird picture really shows off the "blue" part!

Stu--Friday, Wichita was only 7 degrees cooler than Death Valley. Kansas isn't a cool place to be!
Bogie--After the 2nd hatching of bluebirds fledged and seemed to not need it any more, I cleaned out the nesting box - leaving the side door open so that it could air out and catch some rays. A few days later, I saw that the wind had blown the side door closed and that the adults were building ANOTHER nest in the box - their 3rd. Last I checked (when I latched the side door closed) there were four eggs. I doubt that anything will come of this clutch. Too darned hot!

Joared--Yes, I really enjoy watching them. The babies are getting to look more and more like adults.
