It hurts my heart to know that there are men in the world who would rather poison their daughters than allow them to learn to read.

'Ah, Rain, such a thoughtful posting you wrote. I have worked with and supervised Muslims who were wonderful, delightful people - dedicated to the American way of life. When I read a piece such as yours, however, I always hear Allison Janney's protestation, as CJ Craig, on The West Wing, concerning a fictional country [Qumar]: "They beat their women!" It makes me shudder and cringe.'
