This is has been some week on Cop Car's beat. 1) I'm frantically readying myself for a trip to Kansas City MO, 2) I chalked up another birthday, 3) Hunky Husband and I celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary (well...for anyone who doesn't already know, it's our second time around - in January we celebrated the 53rd anniversary of our first wedding), and 4) I finished, washed, and ironed Next Generation 2's (NG2's) baby quilt.
[Not to short anyone, although HH and I didn't really participate except to supply a card and gift, Wonderful GrandDaughter (WGD) celebrated her birthday a few days before I celebrated mine. She, the wondrous LPN who is still working full time even though she has 1.94 children, and her husband and Next Generation 1 had a marvelous day, according to her father, Wichi Dude. (Note that WD calls WGD "CK" for Crazy Kid! He has the father's perogative, but I can't bring myself to call her that.)]
Further info on the above-numbered items:
2) To celebrate, I went to our local meat market (much better than the supermarket meat counters where everything seems to be injected with salt water these days) and purchased a couple of USDA Choice 6-ounce filet mignons and a couple of goodly-sized twice-baked potato halves (we had no potatoes at home, HH wouldn't be grocery shopping for two more days, and I didn't care to venture into a super market). I broiled the steaks after slightly browning them on either side in butter/olive oil in which I had sauteed onions and a little garlic, heated up the potatoes, tossed a salad, and HH popped open my favored wine to produce an excellent meal!
3) We went out for a huge "lunch" - blueberry pancakes for HH and biscuits/gravy/eggs ('way more than I could eat!) for me.
4) Photo of the results:
My goodness! I got tired just reading this!!! Can I please borrow a cup of energy? A belated happy birthday!!!! And the quilt is fabulous!!!!!

We get grass fed local beef here, and it is wonderful.
I love that quilt! My daughter has a quilt on display that my husband's grandmother made for him. Washed numerous times, it has held up well and is still quite charming.

Oh, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and a Happy Anniversary, too! It sounds like you had a pleasant few days, and you must be pleased that things are working out for the NLE 2011.
The quilt looks fabulous! Congrats, Gramma, on a job well done!
