In general, I leave the vertical blinds that cover the side window in my bedroom (two windows overlook the front yard, one overlooks the side yard) tilted so that I may see the side yard (especially since it has nice plantings, now) and, on occasion a star or the moon - the star or moon being visible for only 4-5 minutes due to the fact that only a small sliver of sky is ever visible from that window (the neighbor's house blocks the view). This morning, as I was lying abed listening to the radio, I noticed that the light coming in the side window was a deep red. Flying to the window (but I didn't throw open the sash), I saw that we were having a gorgeous sunrise.
To the living room, I flew, where Hunky Husband was sitting with all blinds closed and two reading lamps lit, reading his newspaper. "Turn off you lights!" said I, and I drew open the vertical blinds that cover the living room windows and those that cover the patio door in the breakfast room (the two rooms are separated only by a stub wall.) The light had, in the minute that had elapsed during my activites, changed, of course - but - it was still beautiful. We went out on the back porch to observe and, eventually, with the light having changed even more, I thought to snap a couple of photos. One appears, below.
It occurred to me that I had snapped a sunrise photo a few years ago (December 2006) that had served as my desktop wallpaper for a few years. For comparison, that photo appears, below.
Ahhh...nice start to the morning. This morning continued to please me when I got to the pool in which I swim and found that I was alone, there, that the water temperature was perfect and uniform throughout, and that the water level was 4" higher than is normally the case on a Monday morning. It doesn't get any better than that!
I've always had a great fondness for beautiful sunrises...and sunsets. Your sunrise pictures are just gorgeous CC. If I saw such a magnificent sky, I'd be out there absorbing it too. ~Joy

*What a gret way to start the day. I love a gorgeous sunrise and never tire of watching the mountains turn pink. You are right; it doesn't get any better than that.

beautiful photos...and, considering what's happening weatherwise in the middle of the country right now, prophetic. "red sky in the morning, traveler take warning..." fascinating....
