Buffy won't believe me when I write that, the quilt that I started in October 2005, for Hunky Husband to use as an Afghan, has been completed and given to HH. It had been started during a Beyond Beginner class that I took at our local quilting store. This is what the instructor's model quilt top looked like:
This is what Hunky Husband's Afghan looks like:
Need I tell you that HH tends to dislike earthtone color schemes, which he terms "blah!". The whole point of the class was to teach us how to handle different types of "points" and "stars"--to produce a "sampler". Next, I need to get back to the quilt that I started while visiting Buffy in the summer of 2006, using materials with which she had gifted me. Wish me well, Buffy! (Remember my telling you that I had already put one of the goose units flying upside down? I haven't yet decided whether to leave it as my "known fault" (there is one in the above quilt, obviously), or whether to replace it while it is relatively easy. Thoughts?
Addition of 12/25/2008:
This file contains the basic blocks (in physicist's terms, they are unit cells) Download Blocks of the quilt that I'm making from the fabrics that Buffy gave me. The following photo is the electronic model of the quilt--with the revision that the quilt will comprise only 2/3 as many blocks as shown. I incorrectly fgured how many blocks I could cut from the fabric that I had, and it is too late to buy additional fabric. C'est la vie!
Wow!!!! That is really great!
Hattie's sending me some Mexican textiles and I'm trying to think of what I want to do with them. I'm sure that when I see them I'll know.

Kay--You've just given me a super idea: to incorporate a Kenta cloth bookmark that a Red Cross friend brought me, and a small square of fabric that a pen-pal sent me from England in 1955 into a quilt. Thank you and good luck with your Mexican textiles, you lucky thing, you!

Very nice, and not "blah" at all!

Kay and Bogie--Thank you for the compliments. (Bogie, the colors may keep your father from getting his nap. He hasn't done a trial run, yet, since he's been working at the Red Cross this week.)

WHOOT!!! You got it done! YEA for you!!
Isn't it great to finish a project? I've spent the past few months trying to do just that. I've had three of EM's lap quilts machine quilted, and I've bound them. I've been working on a project for my sister and her girls, and Dear Husband's "Sails and Whales" quilt is finished except for the binding. I plan to do that binding during the week between Christmas and New Years.
I'm so glad HH has his lap quilt, and I'm eager to see what you do with the fabric I gave to you. I think it's a great idea to incorporate fabrics from other friends. I've made five wallhangings (tops only so far) from the material you gave to me, and I have a lot left to use in other quilts. Each time I see one of those pieces of fabric, I'll think of you.
Merry Christmas, my friend, and all the best this coming year!

Have a wonderful holiday. And oh I am not the Hattie who is sending the textiles but another Hattie entirely!

Buffy--Yes, it's great to get that item off of my plate. The fabrics that you gave me included a Jacobean print and coordinating vines/twigs/dots. The only fabric that you sent me that will not be used in this quilt was a green moire-patterned fabric that I used, instead, in a Trial Quilt previously posted.

Hattie--Thank you for the wishes and for clarifying that there are more Hatties in the blogosphere than I might have thought. After my Aunt Hattie died (about 50 years ago), I knew no others until I ran into you via Ronni's blog. Interesting. Happy holidays to you!
