ME--You are welcome for the recipe. Hunky Husband tells me that he thinks we last made beer in 1961 or 1962 - as he thinks that we always lived in the same place when making beer. It may have been as late as 1965, however, since I seem to remember making it in the first house we ever "owned" - which had a basement.

Just for you, I've added a photo of the crock that we used (see above, in the posting.) We originally had two of that size (plus a couple of much smaller ones that now sit in our kitchen holding utensiles, but which I originally used for sour dough starter - at least the smallest one) that had been handed down from HH's grandparents who owned a tavern. Undoubtedly, in my mind, the large crocks had been used in making "bathtub gin" during the 1920s. My late father-in-law used to tell us that, although he never drank any, he helped make the stuff.
