I met a woman who had come into town to teach a couple of classes. When we were introduced, she complimented me on the poncho that I was wearing and asked if I had made it (see photos in left sidebar). Her question propelled us into a conversation on needlework. She, born in the northern part of England, crochets and was amazed by two things: 1) that the lace on my poncho was knitted (she had assumed that it had been crocheted), and 2) that my mentor for knitting (as I am a beginner) lives near London. Thanks, Val, for providing grist for conversation!
You have this thing for long distance learning, don't you?? :-)

Hardly a mentor. But I hope I've helped a bit. All the energy, inspiration and love of the craft have come from you, CopCar.
